We’ve got word that the Robots in Disguise Combiner Force Activator Sideswipe has made his US retail debut. Long time friend and TFW2005 staff member Tim Formas reports finding Sideswipe and his Mini-Con partner Great Byte at a Target on State St in downtown Chicago, IL.

Care of Takara-Tomy’s @TF_PR Twitter account, we have a pair of new images showing off “Dark Optimus Prime”, which is a redeco of The Last Knight Voyager Optimus Prime to resemble the fallen Autobot leader in his “Shadow Spark” form. This figure will be available in Japan with the purchase of an advance movie ticket for the new movie, a trend which has been running for the movies ever since the Lawson’s exclusive Blackout ten years ago.

As we reported previously, Ripley stores in Chile were holding a promotion for a big toylaunch event in Chile. Finally, the event took place at Mall Costanera Center last night and Chilean fans had a very nice event with great decoration, banners, a big Grimlock, cosplay of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, gifts and the presentation of The Last Knight toys together with a lot of licensed merchadising. There were displays and dioramas of previous movie toys too, thanks to Transformers Chile Fans Group.

A behind-the-scenes video of the movie was shown, together with the recent trailer for the assistants. All recieved a poster and a Legend class figure. They also had a chance to win a pack of free figures: 6 from different classes and characters, a mask, and a poster. 

We are glad for Chilean fans who seem to have had a great night. You can check some key pictures and a video after the jump.

You may remember that Empire promised us an article  on Transformers Cinematic Universe Writers’ Room. The article is out now and 2005 Boards Member Temenos was kind to scan it for all of us to read.

To sum things up:

• Michael Bay met with the writers of TFCU during the principal photography of 13 Hours: Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi.
• Ken Nolan, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the story for Transformers: The Last Knight.
• Every iteration, every era was considered for the Cinematic Universe.
• The story of TLK is a combination of Nolan’s pitch on a story based on Transformers and King Arthur and Marcum/Holloway’s story based on World War II. However, the article states that three stories were consolidated into the movie.
• The Bumblebee Movie story is set in 1980s.
• The Bumblebee Movie will have less robots and the main focus is [obviously] Bumblebee.
• The tone of The Bumblebee Movie is pitched for the younger audience it seems.
• An Animated prequel is in the works. The story takes place in Cybertron regarding the origin myth of the Transformers millions of years ago. Ant-Man writers are working on the project.
• Transformers movie set is ancient Rome is also in the works.

TFNation have announced their next guest for TFNation 2017. Joining TFNation 2017 is fan favorite artist, Alex Milne!

Alex has enjoyed a long association with Transformers comics, starting with his work for Dreamwave in the early 2000s, as well as doing work for Devils Due and Fun Publications. Alex is best known, however, for his work at IDW where he was the main artist for the fan favorite More than Meets the Eye, providing the art for many of the series 57 issue run. He’ll be taking part in panels, and he will be available for commissions, which are always in high demand, so you’ll want to follow him on Twitter @makerguru in order to be notified first when commissions open up.

TFNation 2017 will be taking place over the weekend of August 11 – 13, 2017, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in Birmingham in the UK. Here is something bizarre. It appears that the Titans Return Strength set – also known as “Siege on Cybertron” – is showing up in the computer systems of Canadian software and hardware stores. Stores such as SoftwareCity.ca, PC-Canada, and DirectDial are listing “1pk Transformers Gen Series Strength”, which is the working name of the Siege on Cybertron set. This implies that the set’s Big Bad Toy Store exclusivity only applies to the US, and it will be available through other channels elsewhere in the world.

Via Markmeets.com, we’ve got the date and the place of the worldwide premiere of Transformers The Last Knight. The next installment into the Transformers live-action movie franchise is set to have its red carpet premiere screening at Leicester Square in London, in the UK, on Sunday, 18 June. With the heavy influence from British legend King Arthur in the plot, as well as a sequence involving the famous wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill, it makes sense for The Last Knight to debut in the UK.
