The superfans at Transformers @ The Moon – they who have shared many a display of cool and rare Transformers at UK conventions over the years – have recently hit a veritable mother lode of Transformers history. They have obtained a series of tapes, containing the original recording sessions of the Transformers cartoons. These tapes contain the “unslugged” dialog – that is, they contain never before heard dialog for the original Sunbow Transformers cartoons.
Kicking things off is a two minute long segment from the pilot episode of Generation 1, More than Meets the Eye. In this segment, we hear the dialog for some of the opening scenes set on Cybertron – Wheeljack and Bumblebee’s encounter with the Decepticon Seeker welcoming committee, and the scene that follows where Soundwave spies on the Autobots in Iacon. Except, we have some new dialog in both of these scenes – and a completely cut scene where, following the fight with the Decepticons, Bumblebee is getting checked over by Ratchet.
It is truly amazing that after over 30 years, awesome nuggets like these are still coming to light, shedding light on lost scenes and revealing new dialog from characters many of the older fans among us grew up with.
