Hasbro VS Takara Groove 3

With the month of May dawning, Hasbro’s 2016 May Mayhem and a domestic release of Combiner Wars Groove is almost upon us. Now, some of us might be wondering if there are any differences between the Unite Warriors and Combiner Wars versions of Groove, and TFW2005 member Ryan F has stepped up to answer that question. So, what differences are there between the Hasbro and Takara-Tomy versions of Deluxe Groove?

The answer, is not an awful lot.

Ryan F goes into more detail, but essentially, there are some minor molding differences, a couple of extra tampos for legal / copyright reasons, and some very very slight differences in plastic colors. Read the full breakdown below:

  • Hasbro uses silver screws, Takara black.
  • Hasbro version has copyright and CE tampos on back of leg.
  • Slight remoulding to guns. Takara has detended handles, Hasbro’s are more cylindrical.
  • Not clear from photos: Takara’s windshield is a slightly more greenish-blue (almost imperceptible)
  • Not clear from photos: the two red light (indicators?) either side of the windshield are pinker on the Hasbro version.
  • The Takara knee is just a simple pin joint. On the Hasbro version, that pin has a flat head on it.

Combiner Wars Groove is due for a US release at some point in May through various online retailers including our sponsors as a part of Hasbro’s May Mayhem event.
