30 years ago, the Transformers line was introduced to Hot Rod, the turbo-revvin’ young punk who would assume the mantle of Autobot leader as Rodimus Prime. A mainstay of the Transformers line since then, Hot Rod – or Rodimus as he is sometimes known – is getting a new Deluxe class toy as a part of the Titans Return line.
Yesterday’s leak saw us get our first confirmation of a Hot Rod – who looks to be a part of a future Deluxe assortment along with Doublecross, Triggerhappy, and Getaway – but the images we saw there were placeholders. Now, via our fellow fans over at the Allspark, we can show you what this toy looks like.
What we can see from the image – which appears to be a Hasbro paint guide – is that Hot Rod has a lithe, sleek silhouette. His design is very much inspired by the original Generation 1 design, and he’s got a bit of bulk in the arms – almost a little too much compared to the rest of the body, but it is hard to judge on these design documents how it will look in hand. The vehicle mode is a slightly chunkier rendition of the classic futuristic hot rod car mode – possibly to incorporate somewhere for the Titan Master to sit – and we can also see Hot Rod comes with two pistols (which may combine into one gun). The Titan Master seems to be inspired by Firebolt, Hot Rod’s old Targetmaster buddy, and is entirely flat grey on this document. Given the document indicates where the paint apps are going, it looks like we’re getting no paint on this Titan Master – all the more for the main toy, though.
