All Hail Megatron! 3A is back with their second Transformers Dark of the Moon high end figure and this time it’s none other than Mighty Megatron. Megatron is rocking his rusty truck mode, the Movieverse version with the cloak and shotgun. His face is still half gone from the battle in Revenge of the Fallen and he’s on the ropes. This may be the most menacing version of Megatron on the big screen yet, and 3A captures that glory here.
They’ve shown off 4 so far – Megatron, Bumblebee (which we shot in detail, check the link), Optimus Prime, and Starscream. We have a copy of DOTM Megatron here at TFW2005 HQ and have run it through a detailed photo session so everyone can check it out. He should be shipping now!

3A Transformers Dark of the Moon Megatron
Pros
BIG!
Extremely detailed
Holds a pose and is weighted well
Lights!
Cons
Doesn’t transform (ok not fair)
Legs are in crouching stance even when in “straight up” position (may be original design)
Lack of bicep swivel limits gun poses
Difficulty/lack of outward ankle rotation limits poses
Overall
Another WOW! I personally was looking forward to Bumblebee and he was first. Megatron was cool and all, but I dig Movieverse Bee. When Megtron showed up though, I was blown away. HUGE. The level of detail on these things, and Megatron especially is insane. The rusted out look is done perfectly, with multiple layers of orange, yellow and a tad of green to give off the decaying look. The head sculpt alone is beyond what I thought could be done in mass production. Movement is a bit limited due to his bulky size and articulation choices, but he can be put into varying “strong stance” poses. So Bumblebee wins there. I think size and detail in paint make up for that though, you probably aren’t going to have Megs posed up in long strides, he’s meant to tower over your shelves and stare down whoever visits your room.
Bottom line – this figure is stunning, and I’m super glad 3A went ahead and did this. Their upcoming figures (linked above) also look on par, Prime is due out next in 2016. They haven’t announced plans to continue beyond that, but I’d like to officially request a Barricade (again ). They only have Dark of the Moon, but he was in there briefly so one can only hope!
Check out some key shots here, all 90 pics are below that!
