There was more glory for James Roberts and More than Meets the Eye today. After both creator and series won awards for outstanding writer and continued excellence, respectively, in the Comics Alliance awards, Mr Roberts’ work on More than Meets the Eye has received further honor and praise in the Comic Book Resources “Top 100 Comics of 2015“, placing 85th on the top 100. CBR columnist Hannibal Tabu likens Mr Roberts’ work to that of Larry Hama’s on G.I. Joe, praising how the series has moved beyond the core Transformers concept of “good robots fight evil robots” into something deeper, probing character motivations and origins, with particular praise being given to the fleshing out of the mythology and the introduction of concepts such as Shadowplay and Conjunx Endura. Praise was also given to the artists working on the series, for the way they bring the characters to life.
One particularly pleasing line that underscores the achievement is as follows: “this series is among the best science fiction being published today, and Roberts is an unparalleled talent”
High praise indeed, and long may it – and More than Meets the Eye – continue!
